The Cruising Yacht Club of Australia has taken out first and second place in the CentrePort International Youth Match Racing Championships. Henry Kernot and his team of Sam Ellis and local Wellington sailor Adam Middleton continued their excellent form throughout the week to beat Murray Jones, Harry Price and Ben Robinson in the final. Kernot and his team lost only one race in the whole regatta.

The finals day was a light shifty day relative to the rest of the event. Thursday saw lots of damage due a to typical rapidly increasing northerly peaking out at over 30 knots. Fridays wind was perfect 15 knot southerly and Saturday served up another threatening northerly. Ken Burt and his team did an amazing job throughout the event particularly on Friday where 18 flights were completed. The long day was necessary in order to catch up on the schedule after only three flights were managed on the first day.

Kernot and his team pre started really well in the final and sailed three solid races to take the victory. Sam Mackay and his team from Royal Port Nicholson Yacht club were beaten in the petit final sail off by George Anyon, Logan Andresen and Connor Mashlan two nil.
