The 2016 Centreport International Youth Match Racing Championship opened on Wednesday night with welcomes from Commodore Mark Gordon and Centreport CEO Derek Nind. The weather forecast for the next few days means that race officer Ken Burt will have his work cut out for him, with a 35 knot northerly expected today, with a 30 knot northerly expected tomorrow. From the 30th of September – 4th of October, eight teams from around New Zealand will compete for the Warren ‘Wolfie’ Williams Trophy and the title of NZ Youth Match Racing Champion.
The Royal Port Nicholson Yacht Club will once again be hosting the 2015 NZ Youth Match Racing Nationals. The notice of race and expression of interest documentation is now available.
The Cruising Yacht Club of Australia has taken out first and second place in the CentrePort International Youth Match Racing Championships. Henry Kernot and his team of Sam Ellis and local Wellington sailor Adam Middleton continued their excellent form throughout the week to beat Murray Jones, Harry Price and Ben Robinson in the final.

The Youth scheme has recently been represented at the Harken Youth International at the Royal Prince Alfred Yacht Club and the Musto Youth International at the Cruising Yacht Club of Australia, both in Sydney.
