2014 CentrePort International Youth Match Racing Event underway

The Royal Port Nicholson Yacht Club has completed the final preparations for the 2014 CentrePort International Youth Match Racing Championships. This is the 11th edition of this Youth Match Racing Regatta to be held in Wellington, New Zealand with racing action taking place right in front of the city.

The regatta is to be held from the 19^th – 23^rd February 2014 and is open to teams of 3 or 4 sailors all of whom must be under the age of 21 years on the 24^th of February 2014. The event is sailed in a fleet of four identically matched Elliott 6m yachts provided by the Wellington Youth Sailing Trust and is an ISAF grade 3 event.  Entries for this years event have been received from Yacht Clubs throughout New Zealand and Australia.

This year will see the Youth Match Racing Regatta run alongside Royal Port Nicholson Yacht Club’s major annual event the Line 7 Marine Port Nicholson Regatta which will is be the Keelboat National PHRF Championships.

So a very busy weekend ahead for Royal Port Nicholson Yacht Club and the waters of Wellington Harbour.
