There have been more than 900 participants in the youth development program to date. Our graduates have won prestigious regattas such as the Governor’s Cup in California and several graduates have gone on to elite international sailing careers. Josh Junior (Olympics 2016), Daryl Wislang (Volvo RTW races), Matt Steven (Youth Americas Cup runner up) and Josh Porebski (NZ Sailing Team) are notable examples.
Among our recent achievements:
- 2014 NZ Youth Match Racing National Championships – 1st place (Sam Mackay, Ben Caundell, Bryn Bennett and Elliot Courtwright)
- 2015 Youth Match Racing Nationals – 3rd place (Eliza Wilkinson, Polly Wright, Zoe Bennett, Amy Anderson)
- 2016 CentrePort Regatta – 3rd place (Oakley Marsh, Bryn Bennett, Zephyr Mills and Will Martel)
- 2016 Women’s National Match Racing champs – 2nd place (Zoe Bennett, Kate Johnson-Lee, Amy Anderson, Paige Cook)
- 2016 Nespresso Youth International Match Racing Championships, RNZYS, Auckland – 3rd (William Eastman and his team)
- 2016 NZ Youth World Match Racing Championship Trials, RPNYC, Wellington – 2nd (Oakley Marsh and his team)
- 2016 Youth Match Racing World Championships, Noumea, New Caledonia – 7th
