UNDER 23 MATCH RACING PROGRAMME

The Under 23 Programme is directed towards the more experienced youth sailors who have typically had exposure to match racing through the Development Squad or other means.

The U23 squad represents the Royal Port Nicholson Yacht Club at an array of high performing events around New Zealand and Australia such as:

- MUSTO (SYDNEY)

- HARKEN (SYDNEY)

- NZL YOUTH MATCH RACING NATIONALS (WELLINGTON)

- HARDY CUP (SYDNEY)

- CENTRE-PORT YOUTH INTERNATIONAL (WELLINGTON)

- HARKEN (AUCKLAND)

THE SEASON OUTLINE

TRAINING BLOCK

MAY - SEPTEMBER

This is where we build our foundation of skills, preparing us for the regatta season to come. We work a lot on boat handling, match racing and fitness.

PRE - SEASON

SEPTEMBER - NOVEMBER

This is where we compete in local grade 5 events and give the sailors a chance to fail, making mistakes to learn from, preparing them for the regatta season.

REGATTA SEASON

NOVEMBER - FEBRUARY

The regatta season consists of 6 major events around New Zealand and Australia.
